These are becoming symptoms of Bakani disease. As soon as Bakani disease occurs in paddy crop, the roots of the plant start drying due to which the plant is unable to absorb nutrients properly.

Now a new trouble has come for the farmers of Punjab. While the flood has destroyed the cultivation of four lakh acres of land in Punjab. At the same time, due to rain, this time the farmers could not even spray urea on paddy cultivation.
These days paddy cultivation requires less water but due to rain, water is accumulating in the fields, due to which there is a danger of fungus on the paddy crop. Due to the weakening of the roots of the crop, there is a danger of caterpillar attack, due to which the concern of the farmers has started increasing.

Farmer Balwant Singh says that urea could not be sprayed due to rain. Therefore, chemical solution is being sprayed for effective control. 250 grams of thiophenate methyl is being sprayed by making a solution in 130 to 140 liters of water. Experts say that farmers should regularly monitor the rice crop and consult the agriculture department as soon as the initial symptoms of the disease are seen. Hari Singh of PAU says that by using the medicine on time, the crop can be saved from major damage. Fungal attack on paddy cultivation is a serious problem, but with awareness and use of scientific methods, farmers can protect both their hard work and crop.
Prevention from fungal attack
Make proper arrangement of drainage in the field. Excess of nitrogen in paddy crop promotes fungus, so apply fertilizer in balanced quantity. Spraying of tricyclazole is advised for control of blast disease, carbendazim or hexaconazole for sheath blight. Spraying of mancozeb or other fungicide is effective for brown spot. According to regional reports of Punjab Agriculture Department, area under rice cultivation has reached an all-time high of 32.46 lakh hectares which includes 6.80 lakh hectares of Basmati.
