A bloody clash took place in Punjab’s Patiala jail on Wednesday. A prisoner lodged in the jail attacked a convicted former DSP of Punjab Police and two inspectors.

A case of murderous attack with a rod on a convicted former DSP and two inspectors in Patiala’s Central Jail has come to light. Three police officers have been seriously injured in this attack. They have been admitted to the government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala. The condition of one of the injured inspectors is critical. He has been admitted to the ICU.
SP (City) Palwinder Singh Cheema confirmed this and said that this incident was carried out by the accused lodged in jail in the murder case of Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri. The case is still being investigated by the police. The injured include former DSP Gurbachan Singh and former inspectors Suba Singh and Indrajit Singh. Of these, Suba Singh is admitted in the ICU.
According to the information, the accused Sandeep Singh was recently locked in the barrack of the said former police officers. Where when the accused used the mobile, the former police officers informed the jail administration about it. Enraged by this, the accused Sandeep Singh Sunny attacked the three police officers with a rod. According to the SP (City), this incident took place at around 1 pm.
All three police officers were seriously injured in this attack, who were immediately admitted to Rajindra Hospital. Till late night, the condition of former Inspector Suba Singh remained critical, who is admitted in the ICU. The remaining two police officers are said to be out of danger now. In November 2022, Shiv Sena (Taksali) leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead in broad daylight in Amritsar. In this case, the police had arrested the accused Sandeep Singh Sunny, who is now lodged in Patiala jail.
