Maharashtra: The person who threatened to bomb Mumbai was arrested from Noida; the message was sent in the name of ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi’

Mumbai Traffic Police received a threatening message yesterday. The message claimed that human bombs were planted in different vehicles in Mumbai. The message also said that 14 Pakistani terrorists have entered the country. The threat mentioned an organization named ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi’. The threatening message was sent to the WhatsApp number of Mumbai Traffic Police.

A man named Ashwin Kumar Supra (50) from Noida, Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for threatening to bomb Mumbai. Mumbai Crime Branch took this action yesterday. The Crime Branch caught him from Noida Sector 79 within 24 hours of the threat. Mumbai Police said that the main accused is originally from Bihar. His phone and SIM card used in threatening have been seized. He has been brought from Noida to Mumbai. Further investigation will be done.

Threats were received on WhatsApp number
Earlier, Mumbai Police had said that Mumbai Traffic Police received threats on their official WhatsApp number. The threat claimed that 34 ‘human bombs’ have been planted in 34 vehicles across the city. The whole of Mumbai will be shaken by its explosion. The organization, claiming to be ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi’, claimed that 14 Pakistani terrorists have entered India. The threatening message further said that 400 kg of RDX will be used in the explosion. Mumbai Police is alert and security has been increased across the state. All aspects of the threat are being investigated.

Last month, a threat was received to blow up the airport
Earlier last month, Navi Mumbai Police had registered an FIR in connection with the threat of bombing the Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight and bombing the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in the metropolis. Police had said that a call was received at the office of the Joint Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai between 2 pm and 2.30 pm on Wednesday. The callers said that a bomb had been planted on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight. Police had further said that a second call said that the Mumbai International Airport would be blown up at 6:30 pm. However, nothing suspicious was found during investigation. The mobile numbers from which the calls were made were identified.
