Dr. Mohit Dhawan had accused Chandigarh Police Inspector Sekhon and other policemen of kidnapping him. He had come to appear in the district court on 7 January 2022. He alleges that he was kidnapped outside the main gate of the court so that he could not appear in the court.
The CBI has registered an FIR against seven policemen including a Chandigarh Police Inspector in the kidnapping case of Dr. Mohit Dhawan, a dentist resident of Sector-21, Chandigarh.
These include Inspector Harinder Singh Sekhon, Sub Inspector Suresh Kumar, ASI Ajmer Singh alias Amitoj Singh, Havildar Anil Kumar, Constable Vikas Hooda, Constable Subhash and Constable Neeraj Kumar, who have been in the Crime Branch.
According to sources, the CBI team reached the homes of four policemen on Wednesday. At the same time, there was discussion in the police department throughout the day about which case the CBI is investigating at the houses of the policemen. According to sources, even before this, the CBI had called Inspector Harinder Singh Sekhon and other policemen to the CBI office in Sector-30 for questioning. The CBI had questioned them for several hours.
On January 7, the doctor was forcibly picked up in a car from outside the court
Chandigarh Police had registered a case against Dr. Mohit Dhawan. In this case, he went to the High Court for bail. The High Court had ordered Mohit to appear before the magistrate by 11 am on January 7, 2022. According to the doctor, when he reached the main gate of the court, ASI Ajmer, Vikas Hooda, Anil and Subhash forcibly caught him from outside and kept roaming around in the car, about which the court was also not informed. His absence was registered in the court. During this, the police arrested Mohit. The police argued that a case of fraud was registered against him in Sector-19 police station, in which he was arrested. The case of kidnapping of the doctor reached the Supreme Court. After this, the Supreme Court granted bail to Dr. CBI was ordered to investigate Dhawan’s allegations.
Sekhon also has a case of disproportionate assets registered against him
Inspector Sekhon’s name had surfaced in a bribery case last year, in which the CBI arrested two constables of Chandigarh Police and two businessmen. The CBI did not find any evidence against Sekhon. A few months after this case, the CBI registered a case of disproportionate assets against Sekhon and his wife. The CBI had investigated the period from February 1, 2017 to February 28, 2021 regarding his income and expenses. The CBI investigation revealed that in these four years, his assets had increased by 80.30 percent from his income.
