JALANDHAR: In a significant enforcement drive against unauthorized urban development, the Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA) conducted a demolition operation against illegal commercial structures in the villages of Dhanal and Randhawa Masanda. The operation, carried out in the presence of local police, targeted buildings that had been flagged for violating state development regulations.

Enforcement and Legal Action
The JDA’s action follows a series of failed compliance efforts. The department had previously issued formal notices to the property owners under the PAPRA Act-1995 and the Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act-1995, explicitly directing that all construction activities be halted.
According to officials, the owners failed to submit a satisfactory response or adhere to the stop-work orders, leaving the department no alternative but to proceed with the demolition. The operation was executed under the leadership of JDA Chief Administrator Nitesh Kumar Jain and Additional Chief Administrator Tejdeep Singh Saini, in alignment with broader Punjab government directives to maintain urban planning standards.
Administrative Warning to the Public
The District Town Planner (Regulatory) has signalled that such enforcement actions will continue across the district to curb illegal construction and ensure systematic growth.
The JDA has issued a mandatory advisory for prospective property buyers:
-
Verify Before Investing: Do not rely on advertisements or verbal inducements. Always ensure that any plot, shop, or housing project is duly approved by PUDA/JDA.
-
Check Legality: Verify the approval status of a colony or structure with the department before finalizing any financial transactions.
-
Mandatory Compliance: Government permissions are compulsory for all new construction projects within the district.

The department cautioned that failing to verify these credentials before purchasing can lead to significant financial loss and legal complications for the buyer.
