Tarn Taran: Panic gripped the main market of Chohla Sahib on Monday morning when two unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire at Block Congress President Bhupinder Nayyar, narrowly missing him. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 a.m., was captured on CCTV cameras.

According to eyewitnesses, Nayyar, a building material dealer, was sitting at his shop near Shri Krishna Gaushala when two men on a motorcycle approached. One of them, dressed in Nihang attire with his face covered by a yellow cloth, waited on the bike while the other, whose face was covered with a white cloth, fired three rounds from a pistol. Miraculously, all the shots missed the target. The attackers sped away before anyone could react.
Shockingly, despite the police station being just 50 meters away, officers reportedly reached the spot 40 minutes after the firing. Locals have strongly criticized the delayed response.
Bhupinder Nayyar told Station House Officer Baljinder Singh that gangsters had demanded extortion money from him about a year ago. Investigators suspect the firing may be linked to the same gang.
DSP Atul Soni confirmed that CCTV footage from the market area is being analyzed to identify the shooters. A police manhunt has been launched across Tarn Taran district.

The attack has created panic and outrage in Chohla Sahib, especially with the incident happening just days before Diwali, when markets were bustling with shoppers
