JALALABAD (PUNJAB) — An explosion inside the premises of the Jalalabad City Police Station in the early hours sparked immediate security concerns, prompting authorities to seal off the surrounding perimeter and launch a high-level multi-angle investigation.
The blast took place at approximately 2:00 AM within the station compound. While no injuries or casualties were reported, the impact shattered the windshields and windowpanes of two older, impounded vehicles parked inside the premises.
Senior police officials rushed to the location shortly after the incident. A forensic unit and specialized teams were dispatched to collect explosive residues, soil samples, and debris to identify the exact device and chemical agents involved.

Addressing the media, Superintendent of Police (SP) Satinder Kumar confirmed the sequence of events, stating that the police received alerts regarding the late-night detonation immediately after it occurred.
“The exact nature and cause of the explosion will be determined once the forensic analysis report is complete,” SP Kumar stated. “The blast caused cosmetic damage to two vehicles parked in the courtyard. The entire area has been cordoned off as a standard precautionary measure, and we are examining footage from CCTV cameras installed both inside the station premises and along the adjoining streets.”
The incident occurred at a time when local security deployments were heavily dispersed across town. Earlier that night, local residents had staged widespread demonstrations over erratic electricity supply, requiring substantial police force presence at protest sites. The station gates were secured when the detonation occurred inside the courtyard.

Senior officers reiterated that the probe is being conducted from all possible angles, including potential foul play or external mischief.
Punjab Police have appealed to the public to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified speculation or rumors on social media platforms, assuring that security protocols across the sub-division remain heightened as the formal inquiry continues.
