Amritsar | City E News :
Punjab Police have averted a major terror attack ahead of Diwali. In a joint intelligence-based operation with central agencies, the Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two ISI-linked terrorist operatives and recovered a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) intended for a Diwali-day strike.

The accused — Mehakdeep Singh alias Mehak and Aditya alias Aadhi, both residents of Amritsar — were working under instructions from Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Police sources revealed that the RPG was smuggled into India from across the border to unleash chaos in Punjab during the festive season.
Investigations further indicate that the duo maintained contact with Harpreet Singh alias Vicky, currently lodged in Ferozepur jail, suspected of coordinating the operation from behind bars.
A case has been registered at Gharinda Police Station, and search operations are underway to locate other members of the terror module and their international handlers.
SSP Maninder Singh confirmed the arrests, stating:
“Pakistan’s ISI is continuously attempting to destabilize Punjab through terror activities. Our teams are on high alert and will not let a single plot succeed.”

The timely action by Punjab Police once again highlights Pakistan’s ongoing attempts to revive militancy in Punjab, while showcasing the swift intelligence coordination that thwarted a potential Diwali tragedy.
