Toronto/Chandigarh: The Canadian dream is shattering for thousands of Punjabis. What was once seen as a land of opportunity has turned into a land of fear, uncertainty, and deportation notices. The Canadian government has unleashed a massive crackdown on illegal immigrants — and Indians are at the top of the hit list.
CANADA’S MESSAGE IS BRUTAL: “PACK YOUR BAGS OR FACE DEPORTATION”
In a no-nonsense declaration, Erin O’Gorman, head of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), announced that 32,000 illegal immigrants are being rounded up for deportation.
And the numbers are chilling — over 7,000 Indians, mostly Punjabis, are being readied for immediate deportation on special flights to Delhi.
Already, nearly 2,000 Indians have been thrown out this year, and officials warn the number will explode by December.
Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree admitted that 18,000 foreigners were deported in 2024–25, and more will follow. Police units have been deployed nationwide to hunt down overstayers, breaking the backbone of illegal networks that kept many hidden.
“PUNJABI YOUTH ARE BEING CRUSHED UNDER VISA POLICIES”
Immigration expert Parvinder Singh says Canada has tightened the screws on international students and workers, especially Punjabis.
“Work visas are not being extended. Young people are losing their legal status by the thousands. They can neither stay nor apply for PR. Their lives are collapsing,” he said.
Thousands of students who spent lakhs chasing the Canadian dream are now trapped — unable to study, work, or return home with dignity. The so-called dreamland has turned into a detention zone.
⚠️ JASWINDER SINGH: “CANADA HAS SLAMMED THE DOOR ON PUNJABIS”
Prominent Punjabi thinker Jaswinder Singh slammed Ottawa’s harsh actions, saying,
“Canada has shut its doors on Punjabi youth. It’s not immigration reform — it’s a witch-hunt. The dream of Canada has become a curse.”
He added that the new policies are designed to eliminate Punjabis from Canada’s system, leaving thousands stranded and broken.
THREE TYPES OF EXPULSION ORDERS — AND ALL LEAD TO DISASTER
Immigration expert Pooja Singh warns that under Canada’s immigration law, three brutal expulsion orders decide your fate:

Departure Order: Leave within 30 days — miss the deadline, and you’re automatically deported.

Deportation Order: Once issued, you’re banned from Canada for at least one year — no appeal, no mercy.

Exclusion Order: If you lied or misrepresented yourself, you’re banned for five years — even re-entry is almost impossible.
INDIANS LEAD THE GLOBAL DEPORTATION LIST
The data is shocking. As of July 28, 1,891 Indians have already been deported — the highest number in history.
This figure has tripled since 2019, when only 625 Indians were removed. Now, 6,837 Indians are next in line — followed by 5,170 Mexicans and 1,734 Americans.
Out of 30,733 total deportation cases, a staggering 27,103 are asylum seekers — most of them still clinging to hope that’s rapidly dying.
REALITY CHECK: THE CANADIAN DREAM IS DYING
Canada’s immigration system, once admired, has now turned into a machine of mass expulsion.
From airports to community halls, fear runs deep among Punjabis — families are living in hiding, students are avoiding police, and workers are afraid to step outside.
The message from Ottawa is cold and final:
Leave voluntarily — or we’ll put you on the next flight home.
For thousands of Punjabis who built their futures around Canada, the truth is now undeniable — the dream is over, and deportation is real.
