Ex-STF Chief Busted! Former Punjab Police SSP Rashpal Singh ARRESTED in Explosive 8-Year-Old Fake Heroin Case

Chandigarh/Amritsar:
The mask has finally fallen. Former Punjab Police SSP and ex-STF Chief Rashpal Singh — once hailed as a “drug buster” — now stands exposed as a lawbreaker himself. In a stunning twist, the CBI has arrested the retired officer in an eight-year-old fabricated drug recovery case that reeks of corruption, deceit, and betrayal of uniform.

Rashpal Singh, who enjoyed a decorated career, has now been dragged into the same darkness he once claimed to fightthe drug nexus. The CBI’s probe has blown the lid off a police conspiracy that allegedly planted heroin, forged evidence, and framed an innocent man to fake a “big catch.”

Back in 2017, Rashpal’s STF team “recovered” 1 kg of heroin from Gurjant Singh alias Sonu — only to mysteriously release him and dump the blame on Balwinder Singh, who had nothing to do with it. Gurjant vanished. Balwinder was arrested. And a fake story of heroin smuggling from Pakistan was spun to impress superiors and media.

But the truth clawed its way out.
Balwinder refused to bow down. He approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, exposing the rot inside the police system. By 2019, the High Court smelled something foul and ordered a fresh investigation. The evidence that surfaced — CCTV clips, tower location, and call logs — shredded the STF’s false narrative.

In 2021, the High Court handed over the case to the CBI, and what followed was explosive: a detailed investigation showing how officers planted drugs, cooked up stories, and framed citizens for personal gain.

Now, Rashpal Singh’s empire of lies has collapsed.
The CBI’s charge sheet names 10 cops — from Inspectors to SHOs — who allegedly joined hands in this fake operation: Inspector Sukhwinder Singh, Sub-Inspectors Prabhjeet Singh and Balwinder Singh, SHOs Kulwinder, Surjeet, Kulbir, Beant, and Kulwant Singh, and Constable Hira Singh.

The so-called “drug bust” even included a bogus recovery of 4.5 kg heroin, a pistol, and 56 live cartridges from the fields of an accused — a complete fabrication to show off “success” while destroying lives.

After years of evading accountability, Rashpal Singh has been finally cornered and arrested by a special Punjab Police team. The move has sent shockwaves through the state’s police ranks, raising serious questions about how deep the rot runs.

A senior officer close to the investigation said bluntly:

“This isn’t just corruption — this is betrayal. Officers like Rashpal Singh used the uniform as a weapon against the people.”

Punjab’s fight against drugs just turned inward — and this time, the criminals wore badges.
