EX-COP TURNS KILLER! Retired DSP Shoots AAP Leader in Head — Weapon Seized, Political Shockwaves in Punjab!

Rupnagar (Punjab): In a jaw-dropping twist of crime and power, retired Chandigarh Police DSP Dilsher Singh Rana—once sworn to protect the law—has now become its violator. The former cop opened fire at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Nitin Nanda, leaving him fighting for his life after two bullets ripped into his head during a wedding in Agampur village, Anandpur Sahib.

After the brutal shooting, Rana fled like a criminal, but the pressure from police teams forced him to surrender a day later. From his possession, police seized a 32-bore pistol, six live cartridges, and three empty shells — the same weapon used in the attack.

SSP Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana confirmed that police swung into action immediately after the firing, deploying special teams across the region. Within hours, the hunt for the rogue cop gripped Punjab’s law enforcement machinery.

Police have booked six accused under multiple serious IPC sections — including Dilsher Singh Rana, his brother Ran Bahadur, Ram Kumar (Ramu), Ajay Rana, and two unidentified men. All are expected to face heavy charges including attempted murder.

Eyewitnesses described the horror at the wedding:

“Nitin Nanda was quietly eating when Dilsher pulled out his pistol and shot him point-blank,” said one villager. “The second bullet smashed into his head — people screamed, chaos erupted.”

When locals tried to capture him, the ex-DSP fired at the crowd before escaping with his aide Ram Kumar.

Rana, who according to locals is a drug addict and the brother-in-law of village sarpanch Jyoti Rana, was once a respected officer — now a symbol of police corruption and arrogance gone rogue.

The injured AAP leader Nitin Nanda was rushed to the Government Hospital, Anandpur Sahib, and later referred to PGI Chandigarh. Doctors say a bullet remains lodged in his skull, and his condition is critical.

This incident has rocked Punjab’s political circles. Locals are demanding strict action and questioning how a former senior cop could roam freely with an illegal weapon. The shooting of a political leader in broad daylight by an ex-DSP has sent shockwaves across the state — a chilling reminder of how power, drugs, and rage are poisoning Punjab’s law and order.
