Punjab Crime Explosion: Rajasthan Police Storm Jalandhar, Smash Multi-State Fake Kisan Yojana Racket — Farmers Duped of Lakhs, Two Masterminds Arrested

In a high-voltage crackdown, Rajasthan Police raided Jalandhar, Punjab, and dismantled a massive cyber-fraud network running under the disguise of a fake government farmers’ scheme. Acting on precise intelligence, the Jhalawar Cyber Crime Police, assisted by Jalandhar Police, swooped down near the city bus stand and arrested two notorious fraudsters — Sandeep and Sannant — who had been running a fake “Manipur Kisan Yojana” website to loot innocent farmers.

This cyber-gang had been minting money by posing as government officials, luring farmers with the promise of benefits, subsidies, and compensation under the so-called “Manipur Kisan Yojana.” Victims were made to believe they were enrolling in an authentic government scheme — but in reality, the entire setup was a digital trap crafted to rob them blind.

According to investigators, three men from Rajasthan had set up their base near the Jalandhar bus stand, operating laptops and mobile devices to execute the scam. They allegedly created a highly convincing fake website with official-looking emblems, documents, and seals to deceive farmers. The accused used digital payment links to collect “registration fees” and “processing charges,” amassing lakhs of rupees in a short span.

Police sources revealed that the gang’s digital footprint spread across multiple states, targeting farmers in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab. The breakthrough came after a Jhalawar farmer, Ram Avtar, filed a cybercrime complaint claiming that a man from Jalandhar had conned him through a fake Kisan scheme website. Cyber teams traced the IP addresses and financial trails back to Punjab, prompting an immediate interstate operation.

Bus stand outpost in-charge Mohinder Singh confirmed that once the location was verified, a joint raid was launched. “When we reached the site, the accused were actively operating their fake portal. Concrete evidence, including laptops, mobile phones, and transaction records, was recovered on the spot,” he said.

The arrested duo, Sandeep and Sannant, have been handed over to the Jhalawar Police for interrogation. Officials are now probing the extent of the scam, the number of victims, and the amount siphoned through online transactions. Early estimates suggest the fraud could be worth several lakhs, possibly running into crores if victims from other states come forward.

“This gang exploited the trust of farmers who believed in government welfare schemes. These fraudsters will face the harshest punishment possible,” said a Rajasthan Police officer leading the operation.

The police have also launched a hunt for other members of the network, including the suspected mastermind, Ram Avtar, who allegedly handled the backend operations of the fake website and directed the flow of funds through digital wallets and shell accounts.

Authorities have urged citizens — especially farmers — to verify any government scheme only through official portals and to avoid sharing personal details or payments on unofficial websites.

This operation has exposed how cyber gangs are spreading their claws deep into rural India, looting hardworking farmers under the pretext of “government schemes” — a growing menace that the police vow to crush.
