Jammu, November 15:
A major revelation has emerged in the Nowgam police station blast case after Jammu & Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat clarified that the explosion did not occur inside the police station building. Instead, it took place during the sampling of seized explosives by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team.
The late-night explosion on Friday killed nine personnel and injured 32 others, causing massive damage to the police station premises and surrounding buildings. Security forces immediately sealed the area, and an intensive investigation is underway.

What the DGP Revealed
Addressing a press conference, DGP Nalin Prabhat said the explosion occurred during the forensic examination of explosives recovered earlier in connection with FIR No. 162/2025.
Key points from his statement:

A large consignment of explosives, chemicals, and reagents was seized from Faridabad on November 9–10, 2025.

These materials were transported safely and stored in an open, secure area of the Nowgam police station.

The FSL team had been conducting sampling for two consecutive days.

At 11:20 pm on Friday, an accidental blast occurred during the sampling process.

The DGP stressed that speculation about conspiracy or sabotage is baseless at this stage.

The explosion claimed the lives of nine individuals, including:

1 tailor associated with the investigation team
Injuries include:

All injured persons were rushed to the nearest hospitals, and treatment is ongoing.

Police Assures Transparency
The J&K Police has stated that the cause of the accidental blast is under detailed investigation. The DGP reiterated that the force stands firmly with the families of the deceased and injured.
