In a major crackdown on administrative negligence, the Punjab government has suspended Amritsar Rural SSP Maninder Singh for his alleged failure to take decisive action against gangsters operating in the district. The move comes amid rising criminal incidents and increasing public outrage over unchecked gangster activities.

According to sources, the government reviewed multiple cases where timely intervention could have prevented violent crimes. The findings reportedly exposed serious lapses and inaction at the senior level, prompting the state to invoke strict service rules and suspend the officer with immediate effect.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, issuing a stern warning to top officials, said the government would adopt a “zero-tolerance policy” toward any dereliction of duty in combating organised crime. “Gangster networks are expanding, and any officer showing laxity will face action—no matter how senior,” he stated.

The government’s move signals a tougher, more uncompromising phase in Punjab’s fight against gangsters, making it clear that administrative negligence will be treated as seriously as criminal activity itself.
