KHANNA – In a significant blow to organized crime and the illegal arms trade, the Khanna Police have arrested five seasoned criminals in two separate operations. The crackdown, part of a special drive against gangsters, led to the recovery of a luxury SUV, three pistols, and a substantial cache of ammunition.
The arrested individuals reportedly have extensive criminal records involving murder, robbery, and drug trafficking.

High-Drama Interception on GT Road
The first major breakthrough occurred on the GT Road, where a team from the Khanna City-2 Police Station was conducting routine vehicular checks. Officers signalled a suspicious black Scorpio (PB-02-FA-8080) to pull over.
Upon seeing the police, the four occupants attempted to flee the scene. However, the police team successfully intercepted and overpowered them. A subsequent search of the vehicle and the individuals yielded:
-
One .30 bore pistol with 13 live rounds.
-
One .32 bore country-made pistol with 5 live rounds.
-
Seizure of the Scorpio vehicle.
The Accused
The four men were identified as Jorawar Singh, Jobanjeet Singh, Akashdeep Singh, and Harpreet Singh. Investigations revealed that Jorawar Singh is a convicted murderer who was recently released after serving 10 years in prison. He claimed he procured the illegal weapons to protect himself from rival gang members.
Legal Status: Case No. 88 has been registered at the Khanna City-2 Police Station under the Arms Act.
Machhiwara Sahib Connection: Jail Links Uncovered
In a parallel operation, the Machhiwara Sahib Police apprehended Rahul Sharma during a routine check. He was found in possession of a .32 bore pistol and a magazine.
During interrogation, a “jail-nexus” was revealed. Sharma confessed that he was holding the weapon at the behest of Gurpreet Singh (alias Gumma), whom he had befriended while incarcerated. Following this lead, the police secured a production warrant and officially arrested Gurpreet Singh.
A History of Crime
Police officials confirmed that the arrested men are habitual offenders. Their collective “rap sheets” include:
-
Murder and Robbery
-
Arms Act Violations
-
NDPS Act (Drug Trafficking) Cases

Police Statement
A senior spokesperson for the Khanna Police stated that the department is currently conducting intensive interrogations of all five suspects.
“We are working to trace the source of these weapons and identify any planned targets. This special drive against criminal elements will continue unabated to ensure public safety in the region,” the official added.
Further revelations are expected as the investigation broadens to include potential links to larger interstate gangs.
