JALANDHAR – In a major blow to cross-border terror networks, the Intelligence Wing of the Punjab Police has arrested a third operative linked to the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). The arrest, made in Jalandhar’s Manakrai village, has exposed a deeper conspiracy to destabilize the state through targeted attacks on security forces and public figures.
The accused, identified as Manvir Singh, was reportedly a key player in recent grenade attacks targeting the Bakshiwala police post in Gurdaspur and the Qila Lal Singh police station in Batala.

Explosives Recovery and Previous Arrests
The crackdown follows the earlier arrest of two associates, Akash Masih and Jablon. During that operation, security forces recovered a lethal cache intended for high-intensity attacks:
-
Five hand grenades
-
One kilogram of RDX (packed within an Improvised Explosive Device)
Investigators state that Manvir Singh was working in tandem with these individuals to execute a series of coordinated blasts across Punjab.
The Portugal-ISI Connection
Intelligence reports have traced the module’s handler to Mannu Agwan, a native of Gurdaspur currently residing in Portugal. Agwan, who fled India to evade criminal charges, is allegedly operating under the direct influence of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.
“The module was being directed from abroad to establish sleeper cells within the state,”a senior official stated. “Their objective was to target police infrastructure, religious leaders, and political figures to disrupt communal harmony.”

Security Forces on High Alert
With the arrest of Manvir Singh, authorities believe they have neutralized a significant threat. However, security agencies remain on high alert as they continue to investigate further links and potential sleeper cells embedded in the region.
A formal case has been registered, and the accused is expected to be produced in court for police remand to further probe the module’s financial and logistical trail.
