CHANDIGARH – In a high-stakes early morning operation, the Operation Cell of the Chandigarh Police arrested the notorious gangster Golu Gohana following a brief gunfight near the Sector 25 rally ground on Wednesday. Gohana, a key figure linked to the illegal arms trade in the region, was shot in the leg during the confrontation.

The Midnight Sting
The operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs regarding the movement of the accused. A tactical team, spearheaded by Inspector Satwinder Duhan, successfully tracked and intercepted Gohana in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to police reports, when the team closed in to apprehend him, Gohana allegedly opened fire on the officers. The police party returned fire in self-defence, wounding the suspect in his right leg. Gohana was immediately neutralized, disarmed, and transported to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16 for medical treatment.
The Operation Team
The successful crackdown involved a coordinated effort by several members of the Operation Cell, including:
-
ASI Keshav Dahiya
-
ASI Anil Kumar
-
ASI Ravinder Bura
-
ASI Mandeep Kumar
-
ASI Sandeep
-
ASI Deepak Sindhu

A Pattern of Forceful Enforcement
This shootout marks the second encounter for the Chandigarh Police within the first quarter of the year, signalling a shift toward more aggressive tactics against violent crime.
In January, a nearly identical scenario unfolded near the Sector 39 Grain Market when police intercepted two suspects, Rahul and Rocky. Those individuals were wanted for a shooting at a chemist shop in Sector 32 and, like Gohana, sustained leg injuries during their arrest.
Authorities have indicated that the investigation into Gohana’s network is ongoing, with more arrests expected as they trace the origin of the illegal weapons supplied throughout the tri-city area.
