JALANDHAR – In a significant strike against organized crime, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have successfully dismantled a major illegal arms smuggling module, arresting three suspects and seizing a substantial cache of sophisticated weaponry.
The operation, which spanned multiple districts, underscores the state administration’s unwavering “zero-tolerance” policy regarding the trafficking of illegal firearms in Punjab.

The Operation
The breakthrough came following a high-stakes intelligence-led operation initiated near the Jalandhar Bus Stand. Acting on specific inputs regarding the movement of illicit arms, police teams intercepted the suspects, leading to an immediate arrest.
During the initial search of the suspects, officers recovered five .32 bore pistols, nine magazines, and 22 live cartridges.
Intelligence-Led Recovery in Gurdaspur
The momentum of the investigation intensified during the preliminary interrogation. Armed with leads provided by the accused, police teams launched a follow-up operation in the Gurdaspur district.
In a covert search near Bhaini Paswal village, investigators unearthed a secondary cache of weapons that had been carefully concealed. This tactical recovery netted an additional four pistols, eight magazines, and 18 cartridges.

The combined efforts of the Jalandhar Commissionerate resulted in the following recovery:

Law Enforcement Commitment
Preliminary investigations reveal that the dismantled gang was deeply entrenched in the supply chain of illegal weapons across various regions of Punjab.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Police reaffirmed the force’s commitment to public safety, stating: “We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against the smuggling of illegal weapons. This operation is a clear message that such criminal activities will be met with decisive action. Our efforts to identify and neutralize these networks will continue without interruption to maintain law and order across the state.”
The police are currently conducting further investigations to track the source of the weapons and identify other potential associates linked to the smuggling network.
