Breaking News: Chandigarh Cashier Murder Investigation Intensifies as CCTV Footage and Audio Threats Emerge

CHANDIGARH – The investigation into the cold-blooded murder of Janki Das, a cashier at the Shri Kumar Medical Store, has escalated rapidly following the emergence of key evidence that suggests a calculated criminal operation.

Critical Evidence Unearthed

Police are currently analysing new CCTV footage originating from Kajheri village, Sector 43. The visuals capture three individuals—two identified as the primary attackers and one accomplice—fleeing the scene with a bicycle. According to law enforcement sources, the suspects utilized a local barber shop in the village to change their attire, effectively altering their appearance before proceeding toward the Sector 43 bus stand.

Concurrent with the visual evidence, an audio recording has begun circulating online, purportedly featuring notorious gangsters Goldie Dhillon and his brother, Rana Dhillon. In the clip, the speakers claim responsibility for the fatal shooting, explicitly targeting the management of the medical store and issuing chilling threats against anyone perceived to be associated with rival factions.

While the audio recording has sent shockwaves through the local business community, it has not yet been officially authenticated by the police, and media outlets are urging caution regarding its legitimacy.

Government and Police Response

In response to the brazen daylight attack, the Chandigarh Administration has moved to restore order and public confidence. Administrator Gulabchand Kataria convened an emergency meeting with senior officials to address the security climate of the city, resulting in an immediate directive for intensified vigilance.

Security measures now include:

  • Enhanced Deployment: CRPF personnel have been stationed at major checkpoints alongside city police units.

  • Heightened Patrols: Dedicated PCR vehicles have been assigned to provide continuous security coverage outside key commercial establishments, specifically Kumar Brothers and Kumar & Company.

  • Official Assessment: Chandigarh SSP (Traffic and Security), Sumer Pratap Singh, confirmed that, to date, the owners of the targeted firm had not filed any formal complaints regarding prior threats or extortion demands from criminal syndicates.

Background on the Targeted Firm

The incident occurred at the Shri Kumar Medical Store, located in the high-traffic Sector 11 area near PGI Chandigarh. The firm, headed by Chandigarh resident Rajiv Garg along with two out-of-state partners, has recently become the subject of scrutiny regarding its branding. Local traders have alleged that the partners deliberately adopted the “Shri Kumar” moniker to leverage the established reputation and profit margins of the long-standing, reputable “Kumar Brothers” brand.

As the manhunt for the suspects continues, the city remains under high alert, with authorities vowing a swift crackdown on organized crime in the region.
