AAP Denies Authenticity of Viral Video Involving CM Mann; Alleges Elaborate Political Conspiracy

CHANDIGARH – In a significant escalation of the ongoing political and religious standoff in Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially rejected the authenticity of a controversial viral video purportedly showing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. During a press conference held here today, senior party leaders asserted that the video is a fabricated “character assassination” attempt aimed at destabilizing the state government.

AAP Claims Forensic Evidence of Manipulation

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, flanked by party General Secretary Baltej Pannu, announced that the AAP had commissioned independent investigations from two government-recognized forensic laboratories located outside of Punjab.

According to party leadership, these independent assessments—which reportedly analysed the footage through “1191 different angles”—concluded that the individual featured in the video is an actor, not the Chief Minister.

“Conspiracies are being hatched to defame Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann,” Cheema stated. “We have clear evidence that this is a fake video. It is a malicious attempt to malign the character of a leader who was given a massive mandate by the people of Punjab in 2022.”

The Clash of Narratives

The AAP’s findings stand in direct opposition to a previous report made public by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Kuldeep Singh Gargaj. The Jathedar’s office had previously declared the video to be genuine, stating that forensic examination showed no signs of tampering or artificial generation.

AAP leadership dismissed the findings supported by the religious body, suggesting that political rivals—specifically pointing toward the Shiromani Akali Dal—are manipulating the narrative to damage the CM’s standing within the Panth.

Government Moves to Legal Action

The party announced that it is taking formal steps to hold those behind the circulation of the video accountable. A high-level AAP delegation is scheduled to meet with the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab today to file a formal complaint and demand a comprehensive state-led investigation.

“The culprits will not be spared, regardless of where they are in the world,” Cheema warned. “We are committed to bringing every person involved in this conspiracy to justice.”

Context of the Controversy

The video, which has circulated widely over recent months, has become a focal point of intense political friction. AAP leaders argue that the timing of these attacks is not coincidental. They contend that the intensified campaign against the Chief Minister began shortly after the Punjab government initiated plans to implement stricter legislation regarding sacrilege.

As the government seeks to clear the Chief Minister’s name through legal channels, the divide between the state administration and religious authorities remains deep, with both sides refusing to yield on the authenticity of the footage.
