Punjab: Assistant Jail Superintendent Arrested for Supplying Drugs to Prisoners, Caught During Checking

A shocking incident occurred in Ludhiana, Punjab. Police have arrested the Assistant Superintendent from Ludhiana Jail. He was found with drugs.

The Deputy Superintendent conducted a surprise check and the accused was arrested. The jail administration then informed the police. Police from Division 7 Police Station arrived at the scene. Based on a complaint from Deputy Superintendent Security Jagjit Singh, the police have registered a case against Assistant Superintendent Sukhwinder Singh and two hawala operators, Firozuddin and Deepak. Sukhwinder Singh has been arrested, and preparations have begun to take the other two accused on production warrants. Police are currently interrogating accused Sukhwinder Singh.

Assistant Superintendent Sukhwinder Singh used to deliver drugs and objectionable items to hawala operators for a small amount of money. He was carrying drugs and ten mobile phones hidden in an LED lamp and was going to deliver them to accused Firozuddin and Deepak. He had laborers lift the LED lamp and send the goods inside, avoiding any inspection. There was no inspection at the gate, and the goods were easily taken inside.

Deputy Superintendent Jagjit Singh, along with his team, conducted a surprise check. During the inspection, the drug was found near the LED lamp. The team apprehended the accused Assistant Superintendent red-handed. During the search, police found 84 grams of brown-colored narcotic substance, 121 grams of black-colored narcotic substance, and 10 mobile phones.

Investigation revealed that all of this material belonged to two jail inmates, Firozdin and Deepak. They had hatched this conspiracy, violating jail rules. Inspector Gagandeep, SHO of Police Station Division Seven, stated that the accused assistant superintendent is being interrogated. Soon, the accused will also be brought in on production warrant and questioned.
