The arrested accused, Amarbir, had recently returned from Canada and was in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers.

The Amritsar District Rural Police have arrested a smuggler linked to an international arms smuggling network and recovered a large quantity of weapons.
The accused’s name is Amarbir Singh alias Amar, a resident of Dehriwal. Six pistols, 11 magazines, 91 .30 bore cartridges, and 20 9mm cartridges were recovered from the accused.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested accused had recently returned from Canada and was in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers. Police suspect the accused is part of an illegal arms supply network in Punjab, smuggling weapons from across the border to criminals.
Police have registered a case against the accused. Officials say this action is a major step towards cracking down on cross-border arms and drug smuggling.

SSP Rural Maninder Singh said that the campaign to eliminate organised crime and cross-border smuggling in the state will continue so that peace and harmony can be maintained in Punjab.
