Phagwara, October 15: A late-night firing incident in Eastwood Village, situated along the Jalandhar–Phagwara highway, triggered panic in the area on Tuesday. A young man identified as Sandeep, a resident of Phagwara, sustained a gunshot injury to his thigh and was rushed to a private hospital in Rama Mandi for treatment.
According to initial reports, a group of youths created a commotion inside Eastwood Village, prompting the intervention of security bouncers. The situation quickly escalated into a heated altercation, during which shots were fired. One of the bullets struck Sandeep, leaving him injured.
Eyewitnesses alleged that Sandeep had attacked one of the bouncers before attempting to flee the spot. Meanwhile, police sources revealed that a youth identified as Sukha, a resident of Talhan village, allegedly opened fire during the scuffle and escaped immediately after the incident.
Following the firing, multiple police teams from Phagwara reached the scene and cordoned off the area. Authorities recovered a spent bullet shell from the site. The police are now reviewing CCTV footage from nearby establishments to determine the exact sequence of events and identify all those involved.
Officials stated that further action will be taken once the investigation clarifies the roles of the individuals present during the incident.
