Encounter in Amritsar: Bambiha Gang’s Jasvir Singh alias Lalla Arrested, Wanted in Prince Murder Case

Amritsar:
In a major breakthrough against organized crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab and the Amritsar Rural Police have arrested notorious gangster Jasvir Singh alias Lalla, a key member of the Bambiha gang, after a brief encounter on Friday evening.

According to police officials, the encounter took place during a joint operation in the Vipin Keshav area of Amritsar, where the accused opened fire at the police team. The officers retaliated swiftly and managed to overpower him without any casualties.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, said that the police recovered a foreign-made .30 bore pistol and eight live cartridges from the arrested gangster. He added that initial interrogation revealed Lalla was acting on directions from handlers based abroad, who had instructed him to target members of rival gangs.

ADGP AGTF, Pramod Ban, informed that Jasvir Singh was wanted in the July 2024 murder of Parminder Singh alias Prince and the February 2025 attack on a police party. The gangster had been evading arrest for months and continued to coordinate with international operatives linked to the Bambiha network.

SSP Amritsar Rural, Maninder Singh, confirmed that multiple cases of murder, attempt to murder, and violations of the Arms Act are registered against the accused. “Further investigation is underway, and more arrests are likely as part of this ongoing crackdown on gangsters,” he added.

The arrest marks another significant success for the Punjab Police’s intensified campaign against organized crime networks operating in the state.
