Chandigarh: The tragic death of Punjabi singer and actor Rajveer Singh Jawanda has now reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court, with serious allegations of medical negligence against a private hospital.

Jawanda, who was critically injured in a road accident on September 27, succumbed to his injuries 11 days later while undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. A petition filed in the High Court claims that Shourie Hospital in Pinjore refused to provide timely first aid, potentially worsening his condition.
According to the Daily Diary Report (DDR) lodged by Pinjore Police, the hospital allegedly declined immediate treatment when Jawanda was brought in after the crash. The matter has now drawn the attention of Lawyers for Human Rights International (LFHRI), which has expressed deep concern over the increasing insensitivity and negligence of medical institutions in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
The organization has filed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking judicial intervention to ensure that no hospital or doctor refuses emergency medical aid to accident victims. The plea emphasizes that timely first aid could have saved Jawanda’s life and calls for strict government directives to prevent similar tragedies.
The High Court has listed the petition for hearing on October 27, 2025, after the Diwali holidays.
