AAP Throws Down the Gauntlet in Goa: Amit Palekar Says “We’re Ready for Alliance Against BJP — But No Hidden Agendas!”

Panaji: The political temperature in Goa is rising fast. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sent a clear message — it’s ready to join hands with opposition parties to oust the BJP, but only if everyone involved comes with clean hands and clear intentions.

In a fiery statement on Monday, AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar declared that his party is not opposed to an opposition alliance but warned that “double-faced politics” won’t be tolerated. “We are ready to fight shoulder to shoulder against corruption, but we will not be part of an alliance formed just to grab power,” Palekar asserted.

His remarks come just after the Goa Forward Party (GFP) and the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) signaled readiness to team up with the Congress for the 2027 Assembly elections. Senior leaders Yuri Alemao, Alton D’Costa, Vijay Sardesai, and Manoj Parab shared the stage at Fatorda’s Narakasura Dahan event on Diwali eve, where the need for opposition unity against the BJP was loudly echoed.

Congress vs AAP: The Blame Game Begins

However, the unity pitch quickly turned into a political slugfest. Congress leader Yuri Alemao took a veiled swipe at AAP, saying that those who don’t understand the importance of opposition unity are only helping the BJP by splitting votes.

AAP shot back without hesitation. Amit Palekar slammed the Congress for hypocrisy, saying, “AAP has never been against alliances — it’s Congress that never had the courage to respond when we extended our hand. We don’t do politics of convenience. Our fight is for Goa, not for chairs.”

As Goa gears up for the 2027 showdown, the battle lines are being drawn — and AAP has made it clear that it won’t be part of any alliance built on hidden deals or personal agendas.
