Jalandhar: Tension gripped Salempur Masanda village late last night as an encounter broke out between the Commissionerate Police and a group of criminals hiding in the area. Acting on a tip-off, the CIA staff launched a raid that quickly turned into a fierce gun battle.

According to police sources, the accused opened fire as soon as they spotted the police team closing in. The officers retaliated immediately, leading to a brief but intense exchange of gunfire. One accused, identified as Mankaran, sustained a bullet injury in the crossfire, while three others were arrested on the spot.
Initial investigations reveal that the gang was wanted in several murder and violent crime cases in Jalandhar and Amritsar. The police have sealed the area and heightened security as the investigation continues to uncover the network behind these criminals.
Police officials said the operation was conducted based on credible intelligence received by the CIA staff. “The accused were dangerous and armed. Our team acted swiftly and averted a major crime,” an officer stated.

The injured accused is under police custody and receiving medical treatment, while further interrogation of the arrested criminals is underway to trace their links and potential associates across districts.
