Police recover weapons and motorcycle after busting armed robbery gang responsible for multiple heists

In a significant crackdown on criminal activity, the Lambra police of Jalandhar Rural have successfully arrested three robbers and seized three country-made pistols, marking a major breakthrough in a series of armed robberies that had plagued the region.

The operation was conducted under the strategic leadership of Jalandhar Rural Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Sarabjit Rai, DSP Kartarpur Narinder, and SHO Lambra Inspector Gurmeet Ram.

The Accused

Police have identified the arrested individuals as:

  • Amandeep Singh (18), a resident of Kashi Nagar, Jalandhar
  • Rohit Kumar alias Cheeni (19), a resident of Khurla Kingra
  • Mangal Singh alias Vikas (19), a resident of Mohalla Kashi Nagar, Jalandhar

Items Recovered

Authorities recovered three country-made pistols, two live cartridges, and a motorcycle from the accused, significantly disrupting their operational capabilities.

Crime Spree

According to SSP Harwinder Singh Virk, the trio is responsible for multiple serious crimes across the jurisdiction. Their most notable crime occurred approximately one month ago when they looted a jeweller’s shop in Bhargav Camp at gunpoint, making off with a gold necklace, three rings, a silver chain, and ₹50,000 in cash.

The group’s criminal activity extended beyond the jewellery theft. They are also suspected of robbing a petrol pump of ₹25,000 and subsequently setting it ablaze, as well as snatching a mobile phone and ₹15,000 from a resident in Gakhlan village.

Police Response

The police have arrested the robbers and recovered weapons from them,” said SSP Virk, highlighting the success of the coordinated operation. The recovery of illegal firearms is particularly significant, as it prevents further potential violence and underscores the dangers these criminals posed to the community.

The arrests are expected to bring relief to residents and business owners who had been targeted by the gang. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the accused are linked to any additional criminal activities in the region.
