Mann Returns to Ancestral Roots: Lays Foundation for Sports Stadium, Launches Digital Census Phase in Sangrur

SATOJ/KAUHRIAN – Emphasizing a deep emotional connection to his heritage while pushing a modern administrative agenda, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited his ancestral village of Satoj on Thursday. The visit was marked by the inauguration of critical infrastructure and a stern policy stance on religious sanctity and agricultural sustainability.

A Homecoming for Development

Addressing a massive gathering in Satoj, Chief Minister Mann shed his official persona, stating, “I come here not as a Chief Minister, but as a son of this soil.” He expressed that the village remains his sanctuary, providing “refreshing solace” amidst the rigors of state governance.

The highlight of the Satoj visit was the laying of the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art sports stadium. The facility is designed to provide local youth with professional-grade infrastructure, aiming to steer the younger generation toward athletic excellence and away from the social menace of drug addiction.

Historic Crackdown on Sacrilege

In a move that drew significant applause, the Chief Minister issued a final warning to those attempting to disrupt communal harmony through acts of sacrilege (beadbi). Mann announced that the state has enacted a historic law mandating life imprisonment for perpetrators.

“The days of escaping justice by citing mental instability are over,” Mann asserted. He clarified that the new legal framework ensures that anyone guilty of desecration will spend the remainder of their lives behind bars, reinforcing the government’s commitment to protecting the sanctity of all religious scriptures.

Digital Census & Healthcare Expansion

Transitioning from local development to state-wide administration, the CM officially launched the ‘Self-Enumeration’ phase of the upcoming census. This digital initiative allows citizens to record their details through an online portal, streamlining the data collection process for more efficient governance.

Furthering the healthcare mission, the Chief Minister travelled to the nearby village of Kauhrian to inaugurate a new Community Health Centre (CHC). The facility is expected to serve as a vital medical hub for dozens of surrounding villages, providing modern diagnostic and treatment services closer to home.

Agricultural Vision: “Canal Water to Every Field”

Turning to the agricultural backbone of the region, Mann vowed a complete transformation of the irrigation system. He pledged that the government has resolved to ensure canal water reaches every single agricultural field in the state.

Expressing personal concern over the ecological health of his home district, the CM stated that his “greatest joy” would be to see Satoj’s depleting groundwater levels rise once again. He noted that because this region holds significant political and financial authority, “no stone will be left unturned” in its development.

Key Highlights of the CM’s Visit:

  • Infrastructure: Foundation stone laid for a modern sports stadium in Satoj.

  • Justice: New law enacted providing life imprisonment for sacrilege.

  • Governance: Launch of the ‘Self-Enumeration’ digital census phase.

  • Health: Inauguration of a new Community Health Centre in Kauhrian.

  • Agriculture: Commitment to 100% canal water coverage for Punjab fields.

The event concluded with an emotional appeal for unity, as Mann requested the residents of Satoj to remain wary of opposition “ploys,” promising to dedicate his life with “honesty and devotion” to the service of Punjab. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema accompanied the Chief Minister throughout the tour.
