NIA: NIA takes action in Bihar arms smuggling case, recovers 9mm pistol, double-barrel gun, and ammunition

The case was originally registered by the Bihar Police following the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. In August 2024, the NIA took over the case, which relates to the smuggling of illegal arms and ammunition from Nagaland to various parts of Bihar.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday conducted a thorough search of the house of an accused in a 2024 arms smuggling case in Bihar. The investigating agency recovered several weapons and other incriminating material. The material seized from the house of Sandeep Kumar Sinha, alias Chhotu Lala, in Vaishali district, Bihar, includes a 9mm pistol, 18 live cartridges of 9mm ammunition, two pistol magazines, a double-barrel 12-bore gun, 35 live cartridges of 12-bore ammunition, and ₹4.21 lakh in cash.

According to the NIA, Sandeep is a close associate of the arrested prime accused, Vikas Kumar. He is an active member of the arms smuggling network involved in NIA case RC-11/2024/NIA/DLI. This case was originally registered by the Bihar Police following the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and ammunition. In August 2024, the NIA took over the case, which relates to the smuggling of illegal arms and ammunition from the state of Nagaland to various parts of Bihar.

During the investigation, four accused, Vikas Kumar, Satyam Kumar, Devmani Rai alias Anish, and Mohammad Ahmed Ansari, were arrested and a charge sheet was filed against them. Recently, another accused, Manzoor Khan, was also arrested. He is currently lodged in Patna’s Beur Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
