CBI and Vigilance Bureau Raid DIG Bhullar’s Residence; ₹7.5 Crore Cash, Gold, and Luxury Watches Seized

Chandigarh / Mohali:
In a massive crackdown on corruption within the Punjab Police, teams from the CBI and Punjab Vigilance Bureau today raided the residence of Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, who was recently arrested in a high-profile bribery case.

The Punjab government had suspended DIG Bhullar on October 18 following his arrest by the CBI Chandigarh for allegedly accepting a ₹8 lakh bribe from a scrap dealer in Mohali. The state Home Department immediately took disciplinary action against the senior IPS officer, who belongs to the 2007 batch and is the son of former Punjab DGP Mahal Singh Bhullar.

₹7.5 Crore in Cash, Gold, and Liquor Seized

During extensive searches at Bhullar’s Chandigarh home, CBI officials recovered a staggering ₹7.5 crore in cash, packed in three bags and a suitcase.
Investigators also found gold jewellery, 22 luxury watches, several bank locker keys, and 40 litres of imported liquor. Raids were simultaneously conducted at seven locations, including Ambala, Mohali, Chandigarh, and Ropar, targeting Bhullar’s offices, farmhouses, and other linked properties.

Middleman Krishanu Spills the Secrets

In a major revelation, middleman Krishanu, who was arrested alongside Bhullar, has reportedly confessed to collecting bribes across multiple cities — including Mohali, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Derabassi, Zirakpur, and Patiala.

According to sources, Krishanu told investigators that he regularly collected ₹5–7 lakh per month from various “high-profile individuals” on the DIG’s directions. The cycle of extortion reportedly ran for months — until the latest ₹8 lakh bribe from scrap dealer Akash Batta led to their downfall.

CBI Eyes Massive Benami Property Trail

Sources within the CBI have hinted that property documents and diaries recovered from Bhullar’s residence may open up an entire network of benami assets and links to influential figures.
The agency is now tracing how these assets were acquired and who else may be implicated.

“The documents could lead to explosive disclosures,” a source said, confirming that several big names may soon come under the scanner.

This case has sent shockwaves through Punjab’s police establishment, raising serious questions about corruption at the highest levels of the force.
