Punjab Police Seize 8 kg Heroin and Drone at Pakistan Border

Amritsar Rural Police Dismantle Drone-Based Drug Smuggling Operation

Amritsar In a significant crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, Amritsar Rural Police have seized eight kilograms of heroin and an unmanned drone following a coordinated operation in the border district. The seizure marks another major blow against organized smuggling networks that have been exploiting drone technology to transport narcotics from Pakistan into Indian territory.

Operation Details

The breakthrough came after police received confidential intelligence about suspicious activity in agricultural fields near the village of Neshta. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a specialized search team was deployed under the supervision of DSP Attari, with senior police official SSP Suhail Meer overseeing the investigation.

“Based on reliable information, our team identified a location in the wheat fields near a drain in Neshta where contraband was suspected,” said SSP Meer. “Our officers immediately launched a comprehensive search operation in the area.”

Upon arrival at the specified location, police discovered a damaged drone lying in the fields alongside a heavy object meticulously wrapped in yellow tape. Upon careful examination and weighing, authorities confirmed the package contained heroin, totalling exactly eight kilograms.

Cross-Border Smuggling Network

The seized heroin originated from across the Pakistan border, according to police investigations. The use of drones in this operation underscores the sophisticated methods employed by transnational drug trafficking organizations seeking to circumvent border security measures. The Gharinda police station, which led the operation, has registered a formal case and initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Investigation Underway

Police officials have confirmed that a thorough inquiry is already underway to establish the complete supply chain, identify all individuals involved in the smuggling operation, and determine the intended recipients of the contraband. Authorities have pledged swift and decisive legal action against all persons found responsible for the offense.

“We are committed to dismantling these smuggling networks and ensuring that those responsible face the full force of the law,” police officials stated. “Our investigation will leave no stone unturned in identifying the entire network behind this operation.”

Ongoing Crackdown

This seizure is part of Amritsar Rural Police’s intensified anti-drug campaign aimed at curbing the proliferation of narcotics in the region. The operation reflects law enforcement’s dedication to tackling the persistent challenge of organized drug trafficking that continues to plague the Punjab-Pakistan border region. The investigation is expected to yield further insights into the structure and operations of smuggling networks operating in the area.
