Indian Workers in Qatar Report Explosions as Iran Launches Massive Missile Attack Across Middle East

Rohtak youth working in Doha describe scenes of panic as emergency sirens sound; multiple U.S. military bases in region targeted

Several Indian workers from Rohtak, Haryana, who are employed in Qatar’s oil and gas sector have reported witnessing the aftermath of Iran’s large-scale missile attack on multiple countries across the Middle East. According to eyewitness accounts and videos recorded by the stranded workers, the attacks have created an atmosphere of fear and panic in Doha and surrounding areas.

Kala, a resident of Maina village in Rohtak who has been working in Doha for the past three years, provided a firsthand account of the unfolding crisis. Speaking to Amar Ujala over the phone, Kala confirmed that he had heard intermittent explosions and emergency sirens sounding throughout the day. “It feels like the beginning of a world war,” Kala stated, describing the tense situation on the ground.

Eyewitness Account: “I am completely safe, but the Qatari government has advised everyone to stay in safe areas. There is an atmosphere of fear and panic everywhere. I am hearing intermittent explosions. This has created panic among all the people.”

According to reports, Iran launched a coordinated missile attack targeting U.S. military installations and Israeli interests across eight countries in the Middle East and Gulf region. Qatar, home to one of the largest U.S. military bases in the region, has been among the countries targeted. Qatar’s Defence Ministry reported that it had “successfully thwarted a number of attacks targeting the country’s territory” following several rounds of air raid alerts.

Scope of the Attack

The Iranian missile strikes have targeted multiple nations including the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Syria. The attacks represent a significant escalation in the ongoing regional conflict between Iran and Israel, with the United States also a key target given its military presence throughout the Gulf.

Kala, who has been traveling to the Gulf region for work over the past 15 years, said this situation marks an unprecedented level of regional instability. He noted that while he is employed in Qatar’s government oil and gas sector, the broader security situation remains uncertain.

Evacuation and Safety Measures

The Qatari government has implemented emergency protocols, with authorities issuing advisories urging residents and foreign workers to remain in designated safe areas. Multiple air raid sirens have sounded throughout Doha, triggering emergency notifications on mobile devices across the emirate.

Indian diplomatic officials are monitoring the situation closely, and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has been coordinating with Indian nationals in the affected regions. The safety of Indian workers abroad remains a priority for the government.

India’s Official Response

The Indian government has issued an official statement expressing deep concern over recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India “expresses deep concern over the recent developments in Iran and the Gulf region” and appealed to all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint.

“India appeals to all parties to exercise restraint, avoid escalation of tensions, and prioritize the safety of civilians,” the MEA statement read.

The ministry has urged all concerned nations to engage in diplomatic dialogue to de-escalate the situation and prevent further loss of life.

Ground Reality in Qatar

Despite official statements that attacks have been intercepted, the audio of explosions reported by witnesses suggests significant military activity in the region. Videos recorded by Indian workers show residents taking shelter and describing the intensity of the situation on the ground.

The situation remains fluid, with authorities continuing to monitor developments. Foreign nationals, including a significant Indian workforce employed in Qatar’s energy sector and other industries, are being advised to maintain vigilance and follow government directives.

This escalation marks a critical moment in Middle Eastern geopolitics, with implications extending far beyond the immediate region. The international community watches closely as these events unfold, with concerns about potential further escalation and humanitarian impact on civilians in the affected areas.
