SRINAGAR – In a high-stakes operation spanning multiple states, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled a sophisticated interstate network linked to the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The crackdown has exposed a dangerous “white-collar” logistical wing dedicated to providing terrorists with forged identities, enabling them to hide in plain sight and flee the country.
The operation, which commenced on March 31, has led to the arrest of five key individuals so far, with raids conducted across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab.

The Mechanics of Deception
The investigation reveals a chillingly efficient system of identity theft. According to security officials, the module specialized in generating high-quality forged documents, including:
-
Aadhaar and PAN Cards
-
Voter IDs
-
Indian Passports
These documents allowed operatives to bypass standard security protocols, open bank accounts for terror funding, and move freely across state borders. The “white-collar” nature of the module refers to the facilitators—individuals who do not carry weapons but provide the essential administrative backbone for terror operations.
Major Arrests and the ‘Red Fort’ Connection
Among those detained are high-ranking operatives Abdullah (alias Abu Huraira), a Pakistani national, and his associate Usman (alias Khubaib). Police sources indicate that both individuals have been active for nearly 16 years, playing pivotal roles in orchestrating violence within the Kashmir Valley.
Intelligence gathered during interrogations has also established a link to the infamous Red Fort Blast case, suggesting that this logistical network has deep, historical roots and has been evolving for decades to evade detection.
A Global Escape Route
Perhaps the most alarming revelation is the ease with which terrorists exploited these forged documents to exit India. Investigators highlighted the case of Umar (alias ‘Khargosh’), a terrorist who successfully used a fake passport to fly to Indonesia before relocating to a Gulf nation. This breach has prompted central agencies to review biometric and passport verification processes across international airports.

The Siege Continues
In recent raids following the initial arrests, security forces recovered a substantial cache of:
-
AK-47 rifles and pistols
-
Live grenades
-
Advanced electronic and communication equipment
“This operation is a massive blow to the LeT’s logistical infrastructure,” stated a senior police official. “By dismantling their ability to acquire fake identities, we are effectively stripping away their invisibility.”
While five suspects are currently in custody, the Srinagar Police, in coordination with central intelligence agencies, expect further arrests as they follow the paper trail of the forged documents. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to map out the full extent of this interstate “sleeper” network.
