Bathinda Advocate Dies by Suicide, Blames Chandigarh Builders in Final Video

Davinder Natt, son of Congress leader Sukhraj Singh Natt, shot himself after alleging that builders Binderpal, Prateek, and Bharat Mittal refused to return over ₹4 crore invested by him and his friends.

Advocate Davinder Natt, son of senior Congress leader Sukhraj Singh Natt from the Maur constituency in Bathinda, died by suicide after releasing a video accusing Chandigarh-based builders of financial harassment and refusing to return crores of rupees he and his associates had invested with them.

Natt shot himself at his residence, leaving behind a video statement in which he named builders Binderpal Mittal, Prateek Mittal, and Bharat Mittal — a father-and-two-sons trio — as being directly responsible for his distress. The video, which circulated rapidly on social media, has sent shockwaves through political and legal circles in Bathinda and beyond.

“I invested over four crore rupees with these builders, and also facilitated investments of crores more belonging to my friends. Now they refuse to return any of it.”

In his final statement, Natt described approaching the builders repeatedly to recover the funds, to no avail. He revealed that he had also enlisted the intervention of Aam Aadmi Party minister Gurmeet Khuddian and former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi, both of whom reportedly contacted the builders on his behalf — but still the money was not returned.

Natt told his viewers that the relentless harassment by the accused builders had left him with no other recourse. He appealed for justice to be served to his family in the aftermath of his death, and made an unusual request that no post-mortem examination be conducted on his body.

Key allegations made in the video

  • Over ₹4 crore of Natt’s own funds invested with the Mittal builders and withheld.
  • Additional crores belonging to Natt’s friends also allegedly misappropriated.
  • Intervention by AAP minister Gurmeet Khuddian failed to secure repayment.
  • Former CM Charanjit Channi also reportedly contacted the builders — money still not returned.
  • Accused named as Binderpal Mittal, Prateek Mittal, and Bharat Mittal of Chandigarh.

The incident has drawn immediate attention to what appears to be a broader pattern of real estate investment fraud, where individuals — often trusting their personal networks — channel large sums into developer ventures with no formal safeguards in place. Natt’s case is particularly alarming given that his efforts to involve sitting ministers and a former chief minister still failed to produce results.

Police are yet to officially confirm whether an FIR has been filed against the accused builders under sections pertaining to cheating, criminal breach of trust, and abetment of suicide. The Natt family and local Congress workers are understood to be demanding swift action.

Sukhraj Singh Natt, the deceased’s father and a well-known figure in Maur constituency politics, has not issued a public statement at the time of this report. The incident is expected to reverberate within Punjab’s political landscape, given the involvement of named ministers and the high-profile nature of the family.
