AMRITSAR – In a significant blow to cross-border narco-terrorism, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully intercepted a Pakistani drone and seized a consignment of heroin in the Amritsar sector late Sunday night.

Vigilant Troops Neutralize Aerial Threat
The operation unfolded near Border Out Post (BOP) Kalam Dogar. BSF personnel on duty detected the distinct humming sound of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) entering Indian airspace from the Pakistani side.
Acting with precision, the troops immediately sounded an alert and engaged the suspicious drone with heavy gunfire to thwart its progress. The tactical response forced the drone down, effectively neutralizing the smuggling attempt before the contraband could reach its intended recipients.
Recovery and Investigation
Following the midnight engagement, a coordinated search operation was launched in the early hours of Monday. During the sweep of the border-lying fields, security forces recovered:
-
One sophisticated drone (downed by gunfire).
-
A sealed packet containing approximately 535 grams of suspected Heroin.
“The preliminary investigation confirms the drone was dispatched from Pakistan to deliver narcotics. Our teams are currently analysing the flight data of the recovered UAV to pinpoint the launch coordinates and dismantle the associated smuggling network,” stated a senior BSF official.

High Alert Along the International Border
In the wake of the incident, security has been bolstered across the Amritsar sector. Surveillance in neighbouring villages has been intensified, and manual patrolling has been augmented with electronic surveillance to prevent further incursions.
Local authorities and the BSF continue to work in tandem to identify the Indian associates who were meant to receive the consignment.
