MOHALI, PUNJAB – In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police’s State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali has successfully thwarted a major terror conspiracy, arresting two suspects and recovering a live Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The operation, which marks a major success for regional law enforcement, has once again brought to light the ongoing threat posed by cross-border terror networks attempting to destabilize the state.

Targeted Infrastructure Conspiracy
Preliminary investigations suggest the arrested individuals were in direct contact with foreign-based handlers. The suspects were reportedly in the advanced stages of planning an attack on a strategic location or public infrastructure. Swift and decisive action by the SSOC intercepted the plot before it could be executed, effectively averting a potential tragedy.
“The case is being investigated thoroughly,” stated a spokesperson for the Punjab Police. “We are currently mapping the extent of the network, identifying their local contacts, and tracing the full scope of their communication with foreign handlers.”
Heightened Surveillance and Wider Network
The investigation has expanded as agencies now look into the broader connections between the arrested suspects, local associates, and overseas handlers. Authorities have emphasized that the crackdown on organized crime and terrorism in the region will continue unabated, with a focus on dismantling modules before they can pose a threat to public safety.
This arrest has also put security agencies on high alert regarding historical threats. The 2022 RPG attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali remains a focal point for national-level investigative agencies. That ongoing inquiry has established clear, disturbing links between terrorist modules operating out of Pakistan and Canada, local gangsters, and established drug trafficking syndicates.

Security Stance
With national agencies keeping a close watch on these interconnected networks, the recent success in Mohali serves as a testament to the heightened preparedness of Punjab’s security forces. Officials have assured the public that intelligence and security apparatuses are in “alert mode,” maintaining constant vigilance over suspicious activities to ensure the continued peace and stability of the state.
