Brutal Killing in Mohali Office: Family Challenges Claims of Romantic Link, Questions Security Lapses

MOHALI – A chilling incident of workplace violence has sent shockwaves through Mohali, following the brutal murder of a 30-year-old woman, identified as Dimple, inside a private logistics firm in Phase-11. As police continue their investigation, a sharp confrontation has emerged between the victim’s family and claims regarding the motive behind the attack.

The Incident

On Thursday evening, at approximately 7:30 PM, the quiet of the office was shattered when Harjinder Singh Mann, an employee at SRP US Logistics, launched a sudden, frenzied knife attack on his colleague. CCTV footage of the scene depicts a horrifying sequence: the accused approached Dimple from behind and, within a span of just 35 seconds, inflicted roughly 30 stab wounds.

Witnesses at the scene attempted to intervene, but were held at bay as the accused brandished his weapon. Believing the victim to be dead, the assailant turned the knife on himself, inflicting 11 self-inflicted wounds in an apparent suicide attempt. Both were rushed to Fortis Hospital, where doctors declared Dimple dead upon arrival. The accused remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Family Refutes Motive; Raises Security Concerns

While preliminary police investigations point to a history of a fractured personal relationship—alleging the accused had been attempting to rekindle a connection—Dimple’s family has vehemently rejected these assertions.

Her father, Rajkumar, characterized his daughter as a transparent and promising young professional who shared her life with them. He categorically denied the claims of a romantic entanglement, suggesting that such narratives are being pushed to shift focus away from the company’s glaring security failures.

“How could an individual walk into an office armed with a knife and execute such an attack without any security intervention?” Rajkumar asked, demanding an impartial investigation. The family, grieving and inconsolable, has called upon the government and local police to ensure justice is served, expressing deep frustration over the lack of safety protocols that allowed such a tragedy to unfold.

Ongoing Investigation

The victim, a resident of Patiala, had reportedly been considering leaving her position prior to the attack. Her body was released to the family following a post-mortem at the Civil Hospital in Phase-6.

“A murder case has been registered against the accused,” stated Harsimran Singh Bal, DSP City-2, Mohali. “He is currently undergoing treatment under police guard. He will be formally arrested and interrogated as soon as his medical condition stabilizes.”

Authorities continue to examine CCTV footage and gather statements from staff members to reconstruct the timeline and determine the precise circumstances that led to this fatal breach of workplace safety.
