Passengers troubled due to delay in trains

The main area of the city, Model Town, has also been completely submerged. Commercial buildings have been submerged in water, due to which businessmen have suffered losses worth lakhs of rupees. The rain has also affected the railways. Many trains are running late by 2 to 3 hours, due to which passengers are facing a lot of trouble.
Railway employee dies due to electric shock
Railway employee Purushottam Kumar died due to electric shock during duty. He was working in the railways for the last 23 years. According to the information, while working between platform number 2 and 3, there was a short circuit in the water, due to which he got caught in it. The situation is also very bad in Kishanpura, Chitti Bei and other areas of the city. Many houses and shops have been flooded, due to which there has been a huge loss of other goods including electronic goods. The rain continued till late night, and people had to stay awake the whole night.
Congress MLA Pargat Singh questioned the administration and said that adequate arrangements were not made in time. Now the administration is trying to drain out the water, but by then people have suffered huge losses.
The railway administration has changed the timing of trains and passengers are being informed through continuous announcements. Many important trains including Shatabdi have been affected. The situation in Jalandhar still remains serious and the administration is engaged in relief work.
