PGI employees will no longer get Hospital Patient Care Allowance. The Ministry of Family Welfare has issued an order to the PGI Director in this regard.

PGI employees will no longer get Hospital Patient Care Allowance. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued an order to the PGI Director in this regard. Director Prof. Vivek Lal has written a letter to all the department heads on August 29 and informed about stopping this allowance with immediate effect. This allowance was given to those employees whose work was to be in constant contact with patients or material infected with infectious diseases. This was an additional financial assistance for their risky work, which was implemented by the Center from July 1, 2017.
How much allowance was given till now?
According to the Seventh Pay Commission, employees used to get this allowance on the basis of their grade pay. Employees of 8th grade pay or below used to get Rs 4,100. Employees of 9th grade pay or above used to get Rs 5,300. Now employees will not get this allowance.
After the order of the Health Ministry, the PGI Director has directed the head of the accounting department and the financial advisor to prepare a report. This report will include information about how much fund has been spent since this allowance was started and how much will be saved after the allowance is stopped. This report will be sent to the Ministry.
