Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal has resigned from his post. However, his resignation has not been accepted yet. A meeting of the Working Committee was held in Chandigarh on Monday.
A meeting of the Working Committee was held in the party office in Chandigarh on Monday under the chairmanship of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working President Balwinder Singh Bhundar. Four important issues were discussed in the meeting. Sukhbir Badal’s resignation, giving 10 acres of land for the construction of the new building of Haryana Legislative Assembly in Chandigarh, purchase and lifting of paddy in the mandis, besides the crisis of DAP fertilizer on farmers and the issues of Bandi Singhs were discussed.
After the meeting, Working President Balwinder Singh Bhundar said that the resignation of President Sukhbir Badal has not been accepted yet. The committee members have demanded reconsideration of his resignation. In such a situation, a meeting of all the district heads of the state will now be called on the resignation, in which their opinion will also be taken on the resignation. The working president said that not only the district heads but also the units formed in every district of the state will be asked for their opinion in writing.
Committee members also offered to resign
Senior party leader Daljit Singh Cheema, who was present in the working committee, said that during this time all the members of the committee said that if the resignation of president Sukhbir Badal is accepted, then they will also resign from the party. Bhundar said that the district presidents, constituency in-charges, Shiromani Committee members and Youth Akali Dal and Mahila Akali Dal members have offered to reject the resignation. Before the meeting of the working committee started, Youth Akali Dal chief Sarabjit Singh Jhinjhar appeared before the working committee and appealed to reject the resignation of SAD chief Sukhbir Badal.
The administrator should immediately reject the proposal: Cheema
Senior party leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that pushing forward the proposal of giving 10 acres of land for building a new Haryana Vidhan Sabha building in Chandigarh is a well-planned conspiracy. Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has given a statement saying that the proposal has not been approved yet. He said that instead of making diplomatic statements due to the ongoing by-elections in Punjab, the administrator should clearly state that he will not allow it at all.
Condemnation of AAP government
The committee also condemned the AAP government for not giving a no objection certificate for releasing Bandi Singh Balwant Singh Rajoana on parole on the last date of hearing. It said that the AAP government of Delhi has played with the sentiments of the Sikh community by first promising to release Bandi Singh Davinderpal Singh Bhullar and then rejecting his special amnesty petition seven times.
