Acting on intelligence information
According to DRI officials, they received credible information from intelligence sources about the smuggling of a large consignment of marijuana. Based on this information, the DRI team set up a blockade on the Shambhu Highway, stopped two suspicious vehicles, and searched them. The smugglers had constructed a secret cabin-like structure inside the vehicles to conceal the marijuana, which was expertly concealed to avoid detection during inspections.

The vehicle contained a secret cabin.
After a thorough investigation, the DRI team recovered a total of 186 kilograms of marijuana from both vehicles. According to the DRI, this marijuana was being smuggled to Ludhiana. Following the seizure, the DRI arrested five smugglers and filed a case against them under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. This action is being considered a significant success for the DRI in its fight against drug abuse.
