CM Mann to Meet President Murmu Alone on May 5; AAP MLAs to Stage Show of Strength in Delhi

CHANDIGARH – In a significant political development, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is set to meet President Droupadi Murmu on May 5 to discuss the recent defection of seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MPs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

While the President’s office has granted the appointment for 12:00 PM, the meeting will be restricted to the Chief Minister alone, despite a formal request for the entire delegation of AAP MLAs to be present.

A Strategy of Solidarity

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Mann confirmed that although the invitation was extended only to him, the party has decided to proceed with a collective show of strength. All Punjab AAP MLAs will accompany the Chief Minister to the national capital.

“It is our duty to uphold the mandate of the people of Punjab and protect democratic values,” Mann stated. “I will arrive at the Rashtrapati Bhavan accompanied by my fellow MLAs. My colleagues will remain outside, while I will go inside to strongly present the voice of Punjab and its people.”

The Core Grievance

The meeting follows a period of intense political friction in Punjab. The AAP leadership has accused the BJP of undermining the democratic process by inducing Rajya Sabha members to switch sides. CM Mann intends to formally register a protest with the President, framing the defections as an affront to the electoral mandate given by the voters of Punjab.
