TRAGEDY IN LUDHIANA: Punjabi Singer Inder Kaur Murdered; Three Arrested, Search On for Main Accused

LUDHIANA – In a chilling case that has sent shockwaves through the region, the Ludhiana police have cracked the murder mystery of popular Punjabi singer Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder. While three suspects—including the father of the prime accused—are now in custody, a massive manhunt is underway to apprehend the primary suspect, who is believed to have orchestrated the crime from abroad.

The Sequence of Events

According to police investigations, the victim went missing on the night of May 13 after leaving her home in her white Ford Figo to purchase groceries. She was lured to the Nilo canal bridge by the main accused, Sukhwinder Singh, alias “Sukha,” a Canada-based acquaintance she had met on Instagram.

Upon her arrival at the bridge around 9:00 PM, she was confronted by Sukhwinder, his father, Pritam Singh, and two associates, Karamjit Singh and Ravinder Singh (alias Ravi). What followed was a brutal act of violence: the singer was abducted at gunpoint and shot dead. In a bid to erase all traces of the crime, the perpetrators threw her body into the canal and pushed her vehicle into the water near Rampur village.

The Motive: A Refusal and Retaliation

Preliminary findings suggest that the motive behind the cold-blooded murder was a rejected marriage proposal. Sources close to the investigation revealed that while the victim and Sukhwinder had been in a relationship, she ended the association immediately upon discovering that he was already married and a father of two children.

Enraged by the rejection, Sukhwinder reportedly travelled from Canada to India via Nepal on May 8, specifically to carry out the attack.

Police Breakthrough and Recoveries

Following a formal complaint filed by the victim’s brother on May 15, the Ludhiana Police mobilized multiple teams to investigate. Through a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, investigators made the first arrests on May 16, taking Pritam Singh and Karamjit Singh into custody. The third accomplice, Ravinder Singh, was arrested on May 19.

Key Recoveries Made by Police:

  • The Victim’s Remains: Recovered from the canal based on interrogation leads.

  • The Vehicle: The submerged Ford Figo was located and retrieved from the canal.

  • Weaponry: A .45 bore pistol and two live cartridges were seized from Karamjit Singh; a .30 bore pistol and additional ammunition were recovered from Ravinder Singh.

The Ongoing Manhunt

While the three accomplices remain in a two-day police remand, the primary accused, Sukhwinder Singh, remains absconding. Senior police officials have assured the public that dedicated teams are working to track him down, and his arrest is expected shortly.

The tragic end of the young singer has left the community in mourning, highlighting the dangers of deceptive online relationships.
