Punjab CM Mann Distributes 355 Appointment Letters, Emphasizes Transparency and Public Service

CHANDIGARH – In a significant boost to the state’s employment landscape, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann presided over an appointment letter distribution ceremony today in Chandigarh. As part of the government’s ongoing “Mission Rozgar,” 355 newly recruited candidates were formally inducted into various state departments.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister congratulated the recruits, marking the occasion as the commencement of their professional journeys. He emphasized that the positions were secured solely through merit and hard work, underscoring a pivotal shift in the state’s recruitment culture.

A Commitment to Transparent Governance

Chief Minister Mann took a strong stance against the recruitment practices of previous administrations, alleging that jobs were historically granted based on “recommendations and money.” He highlighted that since 2022, his government has overhauled the system to ensure complete transparency across all cadres—ranging from clerks and patwaris to medical professionals and Drug Inspectors.

“If any doubt arises in the recruitment process, we do not hesitate to take action,” the Chief Minister stated, referencing the government’s willingness to cancel and re-conduct examinations to maintain public trust. He drew a sharp contrast with national issues, specifically targeting the Central Government over the recurring crisis of paper leaks, which he noted has severely impacted the aspirations of youth across the country.

Structural Reforms and Future Outlook

The Chief Minister shared that his administration has successfully facilitated over 67,000 government jobs since taking office. Beyond pure numbers, he outlined structural changes aimed at improving the efficiency of the state’s workforce:

  • Elimination of Outsourcing: The government is actively moving away from the “outsourcing system.” By removing contractors who previously absorbed a portion of employee salaries, the administration is now connecting workers directly to the state government.

  • Educational Upgrades: Emphasizing the state’s progress in education, Mann pointed to the establishment of “Schools of Excellence,” the integration of modern laboratories, and the rollout of smart classrooms as key achievements that have elevated Punjab among the nation’s leading states.

A Mandate for Public Service

As the ceremony concluded, the Chief Minister issued a clear directive to the new appointees: to view their government roles not as a destination, but as a platform for greater service.

“Government positions are a means to serve the people,” Mann said. “There is no wealth greater than the prayers and trust of the public.” He urged the new employees to uphold the highest standards of integrity and performance, ultimately bringing glory to both their departments and the state of Punjab.
