DERABASSI — In a major breakthrough against organized extortion networks, the local police have secured the custody of notorious gangster Manjit Singh, alias Guri, in connection with a high-profile daylight firing and extortion incident at a local IELTS coaching centre.
Guri was brought to Derabassi on a transit remand from Delhi’s high-security Tihar Jail, where he has been lodged for the past one and a half years. Following his arrival under heavy security cover, the accused was produced before a local court, which remanded him to three days of police custody for intensive interrogation.

At the time of the shooting, Manjit Guri—a resident of Kheri Gujjar village—was already incarcerated in Tihar Jail, facing separate charges related to murder and violations of the Arms Act.
