In a jaw-dropping diplomatic twist, US President Donald Trump has once again rewritten the global order. Meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in Busan, South Africa, Trump declared that “every dispute between the US and China has been resolved.”

The two superpowers have struck a powerful deal — China will supply rare earths to the US for one full year, a lifeline for America’s tech and defence industries that heavily depend on Beijing’s minerals. Trump hailed it as a “monumental breakthrough for the global economy.”
But that’s not all — Trump also slashed tariffs on Chinese goods by 10%, even as Beijing continues to buy oil from Russia, defying Western pressure. The move has shocked Washington insiders and sent ripples through global markets.
“We’ve reset the balance with China. They’ll supply rare earths, buy American soybeans, and help stabilize the world,” Trump thundered. “This deal changes everything.”
During the closed-door session, both leaders discussed joint steps on the Russia-Ukraine war, hinting at an unprecedented US-China alignment on global security. Trump confirmed that both sides will “coordinate efforts to end the conflict.”
In another surprise, the US has lifted tariffs on Chinese fentanyl, with Trump claiming China will now crack down hard on illegal narcotics smuggling — a major political win for the White House.
However, the Taiwan issue was completely ignored. Despite global speculation, Xi did not raise it, and Trump didn’t touch it — a silence that speaks volumes. Analysts say Trump deliberately sidestepped the Taiwan flashpoint to keep Beijing onside for his broader strategic win.

With this deal, Trump has positioned himself as the master negotiator of the century, bringing China to the table, undercutting Russia’s leverage, and asserting America’s dominance in global trade once again
