High-Alert Bomb Trials Conclude Safely at Panchkula’s TBRL Range

Panchkula— The Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), a premier facility under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), successfully concluded a series of high-capacity bomb trials at its Ramgarh-based range on Sunday. The operation, conducted under stringent security protocols, proceeded without incident, and all safety restrictions have since been lifted.

Precautions and Public Safety Measures

To ensure the safety of citizens during the testing phase, the Panchkula district administration and local police enforced a “stay-at-home” advisory for residents in the immediate vicinity of the range. Between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM, the specific window identified for the high-intensity trials, residents of Bhanu and Billa villages were instructed to remain indoors.

As an additional precautionary measure, authorities ordered the temporary closure of the Billa-Bhanu market. These steps were taken to mitigate risks associated with the high-capacity testing, with officials previously noting that blast debris could potentially travel up to 1.5 kilometres.

Execution of Trials

The testing began mid-morning, with observers reporting two distinct, controlled blasts occurring at 11:20 AM and 11:24 AM. Senior officials from the Indian Air Force and defence experts monitored the proceedings, ensuring the trials adhered to established safety and evaluation protocols for defence systems.

Police Vigilance and Cooperation

Throughout the operation, police teams maintained a high-visibility presence, patrolling the affected sectors to prevent unauthorized access and ensure public compliance with the directives.

“The administration’s primary focus was the security and well-being of the local population,” stated a local police spokesperson. “We are grateful to the residents of the surrounding villages for their cooperation in strictly adhering to these safety guidelines, which allowed the DRDO to conduct their essential research without incident.”

Normal activity resumed in the area immediately following the conclusion of the test window at 12:30 PM. The district administration has confirmed that no untoward incidents were reported and that all logistical arrangements functioned according to the safety plan.
